New York Street/Backlot Area Attractions

" Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" Movie Set Adventure - A huge play area full of huge everythings! Your kids will find out what it's like to be miniaturised as they play in this gigantic world.

Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3-D 4-D -- One of the best 3-D (sorry, 4-D) movies you could ever hope to see. Completely zany, of course. This one really gets you involved, more than that, I cannot say! See it, or the Pig will come for you!

Disney's Toy Story Pizza Planet Arcade - Designed like the restaurant in the movie, but chock full of the latest video arcade machines. If you think they belong in Disney's parks, and are part of Walt's dream, then you'll no doubt waste.....er....spend some time in there.

Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.....A Musical Adventure - This really is Disney showmanship in full throttle. Lashings of pixie-dust help to create this live version of the hunchback's story, with a hugely talented cast beautifully directed. This is wonderful. Get there pretty early, as some of the seats that they fill later on have a view that's a little restricted, and you need to see this in all it's glory.

Shops
SHOPS
  • The Writer's Stop - This was originally " Ellen's Buy The Book" and it's a replica of the store in the show. Sells some great books, CD's, gifts, snacks, coffee and has celebrity book signings.
  • It's A Wonderful Shop - MGM's Christmas store.
  • Stage 1 Company Store - All kinds of Muppet and Sesame Street items and of course Disney plush.

Restaurants
RESTAURANTS AND REFRESHMENTS
  • Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano - Some great pasta, meat and seafood dishes, served by friendly Italian staff. It's a bit expensive, but it's well worth the money.
  • Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant - Designed like a drive-in movie, guests sit in small cars (like the restaurant in Pulp Fiction) which are fitted with speakers and face a huge cinema screen. The screen shows continuous trailers from old B-movies. The menu is good, with some real silly names for the dishes as you can imagine. It's fun.
  • Disney MGM Studio Commissary - A huge fast food outlet with loads of seating. Chicken and Teriyaki Burgers are on the menu, as well as the general fast food items.
  • Toy Story Pizza Planet - Part of the arcade detailed above, there's not much on the menu, and it's a bit noisy. Buzz and Woody have been known to pass by.......
