Tokyo Disneyland - 15th Anniversary!
DISNEY CARNIVALE
Well, it didn't seem like a huge parade, but Tokyo Disneyland insist it's their biggest ever. This is one of those parades that stops for 15 minutes and dances with the kids (a bit like Disneyworld's 25th Anniversary Parade in 1997), so it seems to take forever to pass. Anyway, it's not disappointing even though I seem to be moaning! You can't help but enjoy it. Here's the official stuff.........

" This parade is the curtain-raiser for the biggest carnival in the history of the Kingdom. What a procession! Sixteen gorgeous and majestic floats are accompanied, naturally, by a full complement of Disney characters. Add to that the dancers, and the total number of carnival revelers rises to 260, each enhancing the glory and spectacle of a parade that stretches some 250 meters from end to end. Even the Kingdom of Dreams and Magic has never seen anything to match this!

With the special 15th Anniversary float at the head of the parade, the floats that follow encapsulate the themes of the world's greatest carnivals. The first of these takes the traditional Japanese festival and gives it an ultra-contemporary twist. Swaying to the sharp beat of taiko drums and the harp-like koto, powerful dancers in Kabuki-inspired costumes evoke the mysteries of the East with their dramatic movements and gestures.

Water dominates in the following stage of the procession, where a float resplendent with sunny Caribbean motifs celebrates the world under the sea. This marine wonderland shimmering with the calypso rhythms of steel drums belongs to Ariel and Sebastian of The Little Mermaid.

Next we come to floats and dancing that recreate the carnival at Rio, as ecstatic and passionate as any on earth. Drums are everywhere. Presiding over the dynamic gyrations of dancers in gorgeous plumed and glittering costumes is Mickey. The pulse of rhythmic whistles and drumming keeps everyone constantly in motion.

The elegance and mystery of a Venetian masquerade abruptly shifts the mood from flamboyant to fantastic. Here the Moon and Stars prevail. A float features Princes and Princesses at a costume ball who embody human dreams and longings, a classic Disney theme.
Bringing up the rear in high style is a procession straight out of New Orleans during the Mardi Gras. Wind is the natural element that dominates here, the wind that blows across the vast American continent as well as the wind that drives the brassy sounds of Dixieland jazz. In the company of dancers dressed as musical instruments, Goofy and Donald strut their stuff in a colorful Dixieland climax to the parade.

Feel like joining in? You can! At three points during the parade there will be moments where audiences can join the fun. Let your hair down at " Disney Carnivale" and help us celebrate fifteen fun-packed years at Tokyo Disneyland Park!"
