Tokyo Disneyland - 15th Anniversary!
STARLIGHT MAGIC

This is the next generation of " Fantasy in the Sky" , it's highly technical and very very impressive. It's been created to celebrate the 15th Anniversary, but surely they'll keep this one runing on afterwards. Won't they? By the way, if you wondered if this is a reincarnation of the late lamented (by me anyway) Light Magic (Disneyland), unfortunately it's not. But that's no reason not to " Ooooh" and " Ahhhh" along with the rest of us.

" This brand new nighttime extravaganza blends classical music with lights, images, and pyrotechnics in a spectacle of entertainment never before seen at this Disney Theme Park. Like the Disney classic film, Fantasia, " Starlight Magic" uses classical music to inspire visual ideas. But in " Starlight Magic," the imaginative visuals are created not on film but on and above Cinderella Castle itself.

Presented at 8:30 PM on days when the Park has extended hours, " Starlight Magic" celebrates the Tokyo Disneyland 15th Anniversary and the symbol of the Park, Cinderella Castle, is the star of the show.

To the lively music of Saint-Saens's " Carnival of the Animals," pixie dust appears to sparkle over the Castle's surface until the magic energy " erupts" in a glittering pyrotechnic display. In tight synchronization with Tchaikovsky's " Russian Dance," pyro effects leap upward into the sky. The Castle then transforms, representing the passing of the seasons, as " Waltz of the Flowers" by Tchaikovsky is heard. Warm summer turns into multicolored fall. Winter comes with snow, then spring covers the Castle with blossoms.

Suddenly darkness covers the Castle. Lightning strikes. The dramatic music of Holst's " Mars" builds as flames appear to engulf the Castle leaving it a blackened ruin. But all is not lost ? the Disney magic works a transformation to the music of Stravinsky's " Firebird." Cinderella Castle is magically restored and Mickey Mouse and his pals appear. With colored lights and dramatic pyro accents, the Castle sparkles as Mussorgsky's " Great Gate of Kiev" fills the air.

Presented daily (Except September 10, the show may be presented in an alternate version or cancelled due to inclement weather.)
