The Main Street Electrical Parade has
made a nostalgic return to Walt Disney World to coincide with the Millennium
Celebrations. It hasn't chaged much over the years, so it's still as twinkly
and sparkly as ever. The tune (the Baroque Hoedown) may well stick in your head
(much like " it's a small world" ) for several weeks after your vacation is
over!

SPECTROMAGIC WILL RETURN IN JANUARY 2001 !!! |
|
(Here's
the old description from 1999) Spectromagic - This is a Main Street
Electrical Parade for the next millenium. Although rumour has it that by the
time the new millenium comes, the lights will have been switched off for
Spectromagic forever (November 1999 we're tentatively told). The show takes
place along the usual parade route (but backwards this time, beginning at the
Main Street end and finishing in Frontierland). Jiminy Cricket is the announcer
for the show, and it is he who is the final character that we see - but that's
after we've been treated to units from Fantasia, The Little Mermaid,
Cinderella, etc. Millions of lights and scores of characters Parade along the
route in this longer than usuaul parade which is, without doubt, completely
stunning. Make sure that you have at least 400ASA film in your camera and get
there early. Stay late at the Magic Kingdom on at least one evening. Otherwise
you will have missed more pixie-dust than you can imagine.

Disney's Magical Moments
Parade - This followed the " 25 Years of Disney Magic Parade" , which in turn
followed the " Mickey Mania" Parade. Tough acts to follow, but Disney have done
it again. Quite rightly this is the Magic Kingdom's main parade, be sure to
catch it at least once (from a good vantage point). And remember that even
though guests might be standing around five deep 20-30 minutes before the show
all along Main Street, across in Frontierland there will be far fewer guests to
contend with. That's the place to be!

Fantasy In The Sky
Fireworks - Every evening, Tinker Bell flies through the sky to light the first
of hundreds of fabulously expensive fireworks. They are designed to do their
stuff behind Cinderella's Castle thus producing 15 minutes of spectacular
Disney magic, to spectacular Disney music. You can see the fireworks from just
about anywhere in the park (or from spots in the Magic Kingdom resorts - Grand
Floridian, Polynesian and Contemporary) but a good vantage point on Main Street
itself can't be beaten.
